3rd International Conference on Calcined Clays for Sustainable Concrete

October 15th– 17th  2019

Delhi Habitat Center

Delhi, INDIA

Introduction and Scope

The most viable option for sustainability in cement industry comprises blending of cement clinker with supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs). But the availability of common SCMs such as fly ash and slag are very low. Calcined clays can be a potential SCM to meet the future demand by cement industry.

This conference aims to follow up the scientific studies and experiences of the application of calcined clays in cement and concrete in mainstream construction projects.

Topics will include

  • Influence of processing on reactivity of calcined clays
  • Influence of clay mineralogy on reactivity
  • Geology of clay deposits
  • Portland calcined clay systems: hydration, durability, and performance
  • Portland – calcined clay – limestone systems: hydration, durability, and performance
  • Calcined clay – alkali systems: hydration, durability, and performance
  • Life cycle analysis, economics and environmental impact of use of calcined clays in cement and concrete
